For the most part, I actually really liked it. I mean the cast was like a “Who’s who?” of Nickelodeon stars which I of course loved. I liked how the plot was like your typical Cinderella story, but with a twist. The male lead is the “Cinderella” character instead. I liked how instead of a slipper left behind, Charlie left a demo. I liked how one of the stepbrothers wasn’t evil. I liked the ups and downs that Charlie and Cadee’s relationship had. It wasn’t all butterflies, pixie dust, and double rainbows across the sky all the time.
However, something that for the life of me I couldn’t get past was how some things simply did not make sense. The whole mask thing. Again, I don’t get how a mask that only cover your eyes makes you magically incognito. I personally didn’t get how ANYONE could think Andrew was Rags. He’s of a different stature. His voice (speaking and singing) is different. His hair color is markedly different. His eye color probably too. Not to mention his facial structure in general. Plus, for those of them who did see Rags perform at the dance, THEY would’ve known the difference. Or so you would think…
What was with all the rapping in Max’s songs? It reminded me of Will Schuester in Glee. And I say that while cringing. I mean maybe if it was in moderation it wouldn’t have been so…monotonous, but almost every one of Max’s songs had rapping in it. I’m not bagging on his rapping abilities or anything, it’s just a matter of personal preference, I guess. I prefer to hear him sing instead of rap.
I was actually pleasantly surprised with the size of Burkely Duffield’s role in Rags. The previews never even mentioned him when they were saying who was all in the movie. The ONLY time I recall Burkely being mentioned was in a spot where Max and Keke were plugging the movie. Lloyd was the first one who realized Charlie was Rags. Lloyd was the one who told Charlie about the REAL contents of the deed. Lloyd was the one who advised Charlie to tell Kadee the truth. In House of Anubis, Eddie quickly became one of my favorite characters, so yeah, I was happy with Burkely’s role in Rags.
I’m kinda a sucker for musicals, so for me, I couldn’t go wrong with this movie. Yeah, parts of the movie were cheesy, but it’s a musical, so it’s to be expected. :P I liked all of the songs, but my favorite would probably be the most advertised song in the commercials, “Someday.”

Haha, yeah I doubt the cricket will make any more appearances. You know, because it will have lived out its cricket life span and all…lol.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks Max sounds better with Cymphonique. Yeah, when Cymphonique and Max had a duet in “Last 1 Standing” (in How to Rock a Birthday Party), vocally, I think they clicked better. It doesn’t hurt that “Last 1 Standing” happens to be my favorite song so far on How to Rock…
So Burkely played the dumber twin? Haha, interesting. But I liked how he was a “traitor” and ended up on Charlie’s side when it mattered. It’s just so weird though. When I see Burkely, I think Eddie (House of Anubis). In HOA, Eddie is a bad boy. And though he’s no Mara in terms of intellect, he’s not quite Lloyd in Rags either…
Who do you think Max’s voice meshes better with? Keke (Kadee in Rags) or Cymphonique (Kacey in How to Rock)? I actually think Max’s voice meshes better with Cymphonique’s. I think Keke’s FIRST duet with Max in Rags, she drowned him out. I could hardly even hear his part. I love Keke Palmer. I loved her in Rags. I loved her in Joyful Noise. But seriously, it’s a DUET not a SOLO! The objective is to have two voices sound as one not to have one voice sing over the other…
But Andrew has BLONDE hair! BLONDE! Ugh! I know I said I’d stop trying to apply logic to this movie, but come on! Forget the voice sounding different, Andrew doesn’t even LOOK like Rags! Different height, different freaking hair color! Please let Kadee realize Charlie is Rags soon because this is making me insane! :P
You know what’s weird? Hearing Max sing in Rags, but then watch, in How to Rock, Zander won’t sing much (if at all). What do you want to bet Kacey will though? Seriously though; Max has a good voice. It’s a shame it isn’t utilized more in How to Rock…
How does she not know it’s him? What did I learn today? That apparently if I put on a mask that ONLY covers my eyes and some different clothes, no one will know it’s me. Lol. I mean, come on! Even the dumber stepbrother knew it was Charlie! Although it was the shoes that clued him in, but still…But seriously! Same hair style. Same stature. Same voice. I just don’t get it. Maybe I shouldn’t apply too much logic to this movie. The writers/producers obviously didn’t…lol.
But that mask ONLY covers his eyes! I don’t get how that makes Charlie unrecognizable…lol.
